Mother Teresa is noted for saying: “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
These two women changed the world when they loved (love) their families. One of them showed me how to be strong and brave and tender and tough. She also taught me to smile when things aren’t going smoothly.
The other one showed her child how to be responsible and kind and diligent and faithful. She also taught him to laugh. And he has brought laughter to me, to our family. For that, I am grateful.
These two kids then found each other in this big world and are trying to do the best they can to carry on the heritage.
We fail. But we keep going. Our motives are pure, even if our actions occasionally do not reveal that. We have had good training. And we are very thankful.
I am honored to have these women in my life. I may be 60 years old (wait…what??). Let me try that again. I may be 60 years old but I am sometimes a little girl sitting at the feet of greatness and still learning how to do it right.
